Parents can improve the likelihood that their children who are soon to be college freshman develop health drinking habits. This is especially true for those who were heavy drinkers in college. Developing healthy drinking habits among college students is a goal of the College Alcohol Research Team. Reports such as the one here show there are multiple ways to achieve this goal.
Kirsten Chodrick who will graduate from the Counseling Psychology Master's program in August has accepted a position as a mental health therapist with Communicare in Oxford, Mississippi. Congratulations Kirsten!
Craig Watson, a 2011 graduate of the counseling psychology master's program accepted a new position as a counselor at the Mississippi University for Women. He leaves a position as an alcohol and drug counselor at Clearview Recovery in Hattiesburg, MS. Congratulations Craig!
CART members Jeremy Noble and Missy Bonnell were co-authors of an article published in the recent issue of Teaching of Psychology. They co-authored the paper with Dr. Madson and Dr. Julie Scumacher from the University of Mississippi Medical Center which found that an accelerated and extended MI training program outperformed a MI lecture but did not differ in developing MI knowledge, skills and self-confidence among undergraduates with no prior counseling training.
