Cottonham Defends Dissertation

Danielle Cottonham, a 4 yr doctoral student in the BAR Lab, defended her dissertation today. She found that the relationship between gendered racism and risky sex was mediated by anxiety and harmful alcohol use in a sample of African American female college drinkers. Congratulations Danielle.

Garnder's Honors College Thesis Approved

Lauren Gardner, a senior in the BAR Lab, received approval of her Honors College Thesis. She found that hazardous alcohol use and drinking in social and romanitc contexts and to reduce negative affect predicted risky sex among college females. Congratulations Lauren.

Carroll Proposes Dissertation

Mallorie Carroll, a 3rd year doctoral student in the BAR Lab, successfully proposed her dissertation today. She plans to explore the degree to which the relationship between alcohol use, alcohol protective behavioral strategies and alcohol-related negative conseqeunces is moderated by marijuana use. Also, she plans to explore the degree to which the relationship between marijuana use and use related conseqeunces is moderated by marijuana protective behavioral strategies. 

Gardner Completes Honors College Thesis

Lauren Gardner, a senior undergraduate member of the BAR Lab completed her Honors College thesis. She explored the degree to which drinking context moderated the relationship hazardous alcohol use had with risky sex among college women. Congratulations Lauren.

Carroll places second at Southern Miss Graduate Symposium

Mallorie Carrol, a 3rd year doctoral student in teh BAR Lab, placed second in the behavioral sciences poster category at the Southern Miss Graduate Research Symposium. She explored the degree to which illicit drug use moderated the the relationship between alcohol protective behavioral strategy use and alcohol related negative consequences. Congratulations Mallorie.
